In April 2025 P.J. Livesey submitted Planning Application Ref 142652/FO/2025 for the redevelopment of Chorlton Precinct in April 2025, while the CLT were negotiating with Southway to acquire the Picture House building which sits on the opposite corner of Nicolas Road from the proposed development. After some deliberation among the Board as to how to respond to the application, we concluded there was not sufficient time to run a meaningful consultation of member opinion but that the Board had strong views on the height of the proposed development and its potentially adverse impact on our long-held plans for the Picture House.

Our submission concluded “The Chorlton CLT Board is happy to support responsible development for Chorlton and recognise this site has great untapped potential, but would urge Manchester City Council and the developers to think again about the current proposal.”
